sal ismail and her german adventure in finding my pfaff bi-level top stitch foot

early this year sal told me that she might be going to germany.  i was aesthetic and i prayed hard that she will.  i hope that she could get me the pfaff bi-level top stitch foot.  and she agreed to help me find it in germany.

and alhamdulillah, she made it to germany.  she was there for a month (june - july 2012).  and this is what she found!

handmade handbag - sling bag

i've been busy with the kids and the house.  and i love every minute of it.  and in between the kids and the house, i managed to steal a few minutes here and there to do some sewing.

here is one of the stuff that i was working on the past few weeks.

prototype of lavender:

my daughter, lisa, asked me to make her a small sling bag...just enough to fit her mobile phone and her purse......and maybe her keys.  she has been searching for such a bag but has not been able to find one that she really like.

she chooses the fabric swatches for the patchwork (some of this fabric looks familiar, isn't it?) and i choose the fabric for the lining.

dimesion:  8" (W) x 5 1/2" (H) x 2" (D)
single long strap: 51" (adjustable), genuine leather

now this bag is with lisa.  and she looks so adorable with this fun and colourful bag.

i had such a great time taking photos of the bag and had an even more efficient time uploading these photos in this blog.  thank you so much my wonderful darling hubby for getting me this really cool and fantastic camera.  no more painful editing of photos taken from mobile phone camera :)

my skirt is completed and ready-to-wear

did any of you remember my skirt making project last year (see here)?  well, today i finally completed the skirt and i put it on.  this is how it looks.  sorry for the low photo quality.  the photographer is too lazy to step outside the house to take the photos :).  of course, i could have waited.  but i just couldn't.  i can't wait to show you the skirt that i made for myself.  if i have time, i will try to take another photo of this skirt on me. 

i think i need to get myself a decent camera.  almost all of the photos that you have seen in this blog so far were taken using my mobile phone......including these.

How about this bag?

i came across this bag recently and it has received mixed reviews.  yes, the overpriced simone camille cotton carry all.  this bag has a price tag that is a few dollars shy of $2000.  personally, i think it is pretty, charming and full of character.  i would like to be able to make something like it and give it my own little twist.  one thing for sure...the colours are glorious.  what do you guys think?

handmade handbage - my pink mocha today

  

in a romantic white setting

my pink mocha. the simplicity of its design makes it so easy to use.  it is a just-throw-in-your-stuff-in-and-fish-it-out-in-a-jiffy-kind of bag.  it is big enough to hold all the stuff i usually tote along when i am out and about.

the leather handles, since they are unlined, provide enough friction, that they won't slide off my shoulder (my greatest problem when carrying handbag over my shoulder).

its body is soft and supple that it doesn't pose any discomfort when it is snugged under my arm.  but is thick enough to cushion, if i happen to have objects with hard edges in the bag.  i love this bag.  ever since its completion last december, i have been carrying it every where.  still looks brand new.

the number one thing that i love about my pink mocha is that, it is light.  i can put more things inside.  i wont be able to do so with an all leather handbag.

i think i am going to make myself another one....an evening version that i can take with me to a more formal occasion.  maybe another enchanted nite.  i still have ample leftover fabrics from enchanted nite.  i just need to get more black coloured leather.
